I know engine engineering is very advance and complex but is it me that things are built so much cheaply (not cheaper) made? I never dreamed I would ever see so much of the engine especially manifold being built using plastic???

Hiya, so I tried doing the update following your procedure, and it looked like everything was going OK. The engine fan even revved up at the beginning like it did for you. But, 30 minutes later, it said the update failed to load, and one of the reasons it mentioned was (maybe) lack of space. This was all prompted by an "entertainment unavailable" message when you go to turn the radio on. Everything else seemed to work until I tried to make a phone call, it connects to the cellphone, but you don't get any audio. I've worked my entire career in electronics (now retired), and I HATE all this new microprocessor powered c-r-a-p..... :-) I guess I'll have to buy a new electronics module for it :-(

Nice video! The tips for making plugs for the brake lines are great. I recently replaced the front to rear 3/16 tube on a 2001 Dakota. The tube nuts and flares were bubble flares. The bubble flare tube nuts have no thread at the tip and a 90 degree interface to the tube. Double or inverted flares have threads to the tip and a 45 degree interface to the tube flare.

Hello! Very helpful video, good job. Need to do this job soon. I have couple of questions: 1- have you had a rough start-up that then just smooth out after a few seconds? Do you know what that could be? 2- I get like a pressure relieving sound when stopping, I replaced the PCV valve a while ago, don’t know if this might be causing that.

Is there any way to do this without an air chisel? I've read in comments you can make some cuts with a sawzall and it "comes right out" does that mean without a chisel? Also is it possible to do without removing the tie rod? Thanks anyone.

Great video. The only part that would have deserved a bit more focus would have been to explain *why* the bad bearing makes different noise when you corner the car left or right. The reason is obviously that a bad bearing will make more noise when you put more force through it and cornering the car puts majority of the weight of the car on the outside tire bearing. And the inside bearing can get nearly weightless at the same time so bad bearing on the corner outside will make lots of noise and bad bearing on the corner inside may be nearly silent. The hard part is that cupped tires caused by wheel alignment problems could cause cupping on the outside edge of the tire which could have similar sound so check the thread wear in addition to sound diagnosis.

8:37 When you compare "small" dB changes you have to remember that the sound energy doubles every 3 dB. Humans do not interpret 3 dB difference that loud in most cases, though. Most humans call +10 dB about double as loud when in reality it's over 8x as loud on linear scale. And if you want to understand better why tire or bearing noise is so easy to hear even though a general purpose sound meter doesn't show a big difference, look at the spectrogram. General purpose sound meters average all frequencies and narrow band louder noise gets averaged with near silence on other frequencies. If you have an Android phone, an app called "Spectroid" is really good to see narrow peaks in sound frequency spectrum. Some irritating noise has often pretty narrow peak but the peak sound level may be pretty high compared to the environment.

My 2012 Ford F150 5.0 does a coyote tick. I've had it to 2 Ford dealerships and 2 mechanic shops and they all say it's normal and nothing needs to be fixed.

I have the same problem on my 2010 Chevy Malibu , What did you use to clean the alternator and belt? Do you recommend using stop leak after replacing the valve cover gasket?

could the cracks in the deck be welded to get it back in shape? Or brassed. I cannot weld - need special equipment. but I think a good torch ( not oxy-ac. ) but others - might be hot enough to brass .

Thanks for this video! You confirmed that it is doable and I was getting pretty discouraged seeing all these videos of people smacking it a few times and it coming loose. I've been banging on this thing for several days, using PBBlaster, sledge hammer with wood on control arm, directly on control arm, hitting with chisel on side of ball joint ... nothing budging! Got my 2013 Outback from my brother who lives in Iowa, and I am in NJ. I just borrowed a pneumatic hammer from my neighbor and now hoping that will do the trick!

Where did you get the torque specifications?

My brake pedal sinks after changing the front brake calipers. They have changed the brake master cylinder, they have bled the ABS module with a scanner and it remains the same. I can't find the problem, any ideas?.

Curious what you think, I have a truck I just changed the wheel and tire all at once brand new all terrains. They came in pre-balanced and put together, I just had to slip them on. Front right tire popped once loudly when turning out of parking spot and also notice a VERY slight pull to the right when driving. Thoughts?

Ive been hearing a wub wub wub sound for months and its got louder each day. When im going slow its louder than going fast. Its got that loud the people can hear it when i go down the road. I thought it was a cv joint. So i fixed it and its still there. My other option was wheel bearing, but the wheel doesnt move left to right and up and down.
